The Trinity Uptown Plan did NOT include the affected landowners in their decision-making process. Although there were numerous meetings held, and organizations were invited to participate, the affected business owners and land owners whose lands were needed for the Trinity Uptown Plan were ignored and disregarded. Why? According to the Corps Project Manager, the Corps was not required to study the cost-benefit ratio of the Alternate Plan because Congress had already decided the direction to be taken. How could Congress make a prudent decision without comparing the alternate cost figures and comparing the overall adverse impacts on current landowners and businesses? Finally, why was special legislation created for the sole benefit of TRWD granting them eminent domain powers for economic development when the State and the nation are up in arms already about eminent domain abuses for economic development? |
